The client’s vision for her restaurant fit-out was to build a butterfly house as part of the dining area, something she had seen around that time and enjoyed. After further research and weighing up of cost and maintenance the idea was abandoned. We enjoyed the organic shapes of the butterfly and had previously read about the positive effect it has on the psyche and so presented a design that incorporated screens and bulkheads in the main seating area that were inspired by the wing and curves of a butterfly. The screen is made from Tasmanian Oak with Perspex infill to add colour and vibrancy. The soft curve of the bulkhead that wraps down the wall from the ceiling is made from a veneer.
