Wodonga Fatigue Management Centre
Working with developers, T+W were engaged to design the master plan for a site designated by council to house a Fatigue Management Centre. It is a site at which forms a place to stop on the highway between NSW and Vic. The site will potentially house 150 truck spaces, a weigh bridge, a control building housing trucker’s facilities, fuel and convenience and two restaurants. In later stages there will be various other offerings.
The design of the control building to manage fatigue incorporates low maintenance native gardens both on the ground and vertically attached to the building. The building frames views and is oriented to allow sun into the building in winter and minimise heat load in summer. It has outdoor areas for patrons to stretch their legs in amongst landscape both soft and hard. We have designed the roofs to take water into storage tanks for reuse as grey water and used timber in various applications to soften a building that is often a hard, cold shed.
