Wirraburra House Templestowe
The Wirraburra house has grown from the site. It addresses the street with a humble single storey tiled roof and masonry base responding to the scale and pattern of its context. As it makes its way down the steep slope, the construction lightens and in turn the spaces are defined by the roof soaring up and revealling framed views of the tall thin, gums and river below. The frames of the windows and doors have hues taken from items found on site, a piece of bark uncurled reveals a fuscia pink, and the silver blue from the gums.
Like a leaf over the containers of living space the roof defines semi public and intimate areas where appropriate.
