Rye Beach House

Bob and Dianne came to us with an unassuming 70’s brick veneer house a stone throw away from the Victorian coast. It had become apparent that the house wasn’t going to suit their needs as their family and friends grew after having a large group stay over the Christmas holidays. The existing floor plan was awkward and the house didn’t take advantage of it’s northern exposure. By removing the sunroom and opening up one of the existing bedrooms the living was extended into a bright spacious area comfortable for 2 or 20 people. The doors and layout offer flexibility without compromising the feel. We allowed the building to grow out of and over the existing structure until it engulfed it completely. Now there are only subtle reminders of what was there. The roof over the main living folds up where it meets the verandah to allow the northern light into the living
